Doctoral student (liceniat) in Data-Driven Smart Urban Mobility

Publicerad 2020-09-24

KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm has grown to become one of Europe’s leading technical and engineering universities, as well as a key centre of intellectual talent and innovation. We are Sweden’s largest technical research and learning institution and home to students, researchers and faculty from around the world. Our research and education covers a wide area including natural sciences and all branches of engineering, as well as architecture, industrial management, urban planning, history and philosophy.

Project description

Third-cycle subject: Geodesy and Geoinformatics

The aim of this licentiate study is to utilize mobility data and computing technologies and develop data-driven methodologies that evaluate, model, and optimize smart urban mobility concepts and solutions for people and goods. The methodologies are expected to include big mobility data analytics, simulations and visualizations, and optimizations.

The candidate is expected to participate in- and develop such methodologies in the context of two research projects that are coordinated within KTH by ITRL. In the SustEV project, entitled “Toward Sustainable Electric Vehicle Use”, the candidate for the licentiate position will devise methods that investigate how different transport service incentives (e.g., dedicated or subsidized charging, parking and shared mobility services) can facilitate the adoption of electric vehicles without stimulating increased car use. In the InterCityLog2 project, entitled “Minimizing transport work through cross-sectoral collaboration”, the candidate for the licentiate position will devise methods that evaluate, model and optimize consolidated, bidirectional, urban goods and recycling transport logistics using a microterminal and small electric delivery vehicles.

Supervision: The doctoral student will be supervised by: Associate Professor Gyözö Gidofalvi
