Campus
The maritime campus of the University of Vaasa is located in Palosaari which is a short walk away from the city centre. In continental style, the university is situated in the city. A pleasant and cohesive campus brings students from different disciplines together and student life characterizes the streets. Three tertiary educational institutions, 12 000 students, and student accommodations are concentrated in Palosaari.

In Vaasa, students study in a unique environment. The same area houses the historic old red-brick cotton factory and fresh bright new buildings.
The oldest part, Fabriikki, was built in Manchester style with its neo-gothic towers and brick surfaces when Commercial Counselor A.A. Levón founded the northernmost cotton mill here in 1856. The laboratory building of Technobothnia, the administrative building Konttori and the picturesque wooden residences of the old cotton mill workers ”Puuvillatalot” which are now occupied by students, all breathe history.

The new buildings Tervahovi and Luotsi designed by Käpy and Simo Paavilainen were completed in 1994. The campus area’s new constructions also include the Tritonia Academic Library which is shared by five tertiary educational institutions and Domus Bothnica, the student union house which were completed during the first decade of 2000.
At present, complementary construction work on the campus area is under planning.
