Fraunhofer IGD, Rostock

A working group led by Professor Dr.-Ing. José Luis Encarnação, which was set up in Darmstadt by the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft(link is external), began conducting research in 1987. Out of that, the Fraunhofer IGD was created in 1992, which today has a total of 13 research and development departments at four locations -- in Darmstadt, Rostock, Graz (in the "Visual Computing" business unit of Fraunhofer Austria) and Singapore. The Fraunhofer IGD collaborates closely with the Technical University of Darmstadt, Rostock University, Technical University of Graz and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. By doing so, it strengthens its research competence at the locations, both in terms of staff and technical expertise.

Prof. Dr. techn. Dieter W. Fellner manages the Fraunhofer IGD and at the same time serves as a full professor who heads the department of graphically interactive systems at the TU Darmstadt. There are over 215 employees working throughout the various departments at the locations. Processing projects and orders reliably, on time and in a customer-oriented way is considered a matter of course. Evidence for this is our long standing certification according to ISO 9001.

The Fraunhofer IGD focuses on satisfaction and motivation since outstanding research, development and continuing education only take place in a collaborative and trusting atmosphere.
