Controlling and Managing Energy Smartly
The energy transition is one of our most significant initiatives: Renewables will replace nuclear energy and supply us safely and cleanly. The energy transition also increases the risk of fluctuations in regional electrical grids, however, because renewables, such as wind and solar power, are not always available to the same extent.

A stable power supply for factories, service providers and private households around the clock requires innovative approaches.

Researchers from the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation IFF in Magdeburg want to counterbalance the volatility of renewables. They have developed solutions for smart energy management. Just one example is a large battery that can be charged the moment energy from renewables is available. If, on the other hand, renewables “ebb”, the stored electricity is fed back into the grid and consumers.
